Here you will find a range of printable worksheets involving coordinates in all four quadrants.

There are a range of different activities from plotting coordinates, writing coordinates and reflecting shapes.

Coordinate Plane Worksheets

Coordinate Plane Help - 4 Quadrants

All coordinates consist of two numbers separated with a comma and usually within parentheses.

The first number is the horizontal coordinate, or the number along the x axis.

The second number is the vertical coordinate, or the number up the y axis.

So the coordinate (3,1) means 3 along and 1 up.

Often children get their coordinates the wrong way round and go up first and then along, ending up with the coordinate (1,3).

An easy way to remember the correct way is...

'x is a cross so the x coordinate always goes across.'

We can also say that...

'x always comes before y, so the x coordinate is always first.'

This means that...

• the first coordinate, the x coordinate, is the amount you go 'across';
• the second coordinate, the y coordinate, is the amount you go 'up' or 'down'.

In the above example:

The red triangle is at coordinate (3, 4).

The yellow square is at coordinate (-3, 2).

The blue pentagon is at coordinate (-5, -2).

The green circle is at coordinate (1, -5).

The third set of worksheets are themed coordinate worksheets which are designed to get children to create a picture.

Using these sheets will help your child to:

• learn to write down coordinates in all four quadrants;
• learn to plot coordinates correctly;
• learn to reflect shapes and plot their coordinates.

5th Grade Geometry Worksheets

Here you will find a range of free printable 5th Grade Geometry Worksheets.

At a Fifth Grade level, children learn to measure angles in degrees. They know about different properties of angles, such as right angles and angles in a straight line. They are able to construct and use nets, and know the five regular 'Platonic' solids.

They can also calculate the area of shapes made out of triangles, and they can interpret and plot points on the co-ordinate plane.

Using these sheets will help your child to:

• know how to find missing angles in a range of situations;
• learn the number of degrees in a right angle, straight line, around a point and in a triangle;
• know how to calculate the area of a triangle;
• know how to calculate the area of a range of quadrilaterals.

Here is our selection of measurement worksheets for 5th graders.

These sheets involve reading scales in both the standard and metric systems.

The scales include finding the length, weight or liquid capacity.

Using these sheets will help your child understand how to:

• learn how to read a standard scale going up in different fractions: halves, quarters, eighths and sixteenths;
• learn how to read a metric scale going up in 0.1s, 5s, 10s, 25s, 50s & 100s;
• learn how to estimate a measurement of length, weight or liquid.

Using these sheets will help children to consolidate their fractions and place value learning.
